| A typical Langer's line |
Today is the day that
Langer's celebrates its 65th anniversary in MacArthur Park by
giving away free sandwiches. There were only about 40 people lined up around 7 AM this morning,
reports KTLA, but that's typical, no? The lines will be ridiculous within hours, but we all know a No. 19 is just about worth it. That sandwich - the pastrami, the coleslaw, the Swiss cheese, the dressing,
that bread - can stop, or at least, block traffic. And to prove it, the LAPD
announced that 7th Street will be closed between Alvarado Street and Westlake Boulevard from 6 AM to 10 PM both days. Might we suggest the Metro - the Red Line stops right across the street.
Get your free No. 19 from 8 AM to 9 PM today and 6:30 AM to 9 PM on Saturday. Only one sandwich per customer, and you must be seated at a booth, at the counter or in a chair (sorry, no carry-out). Langer's is located at 704 S. Alvarado Street.
