First Look: Bagatelle, Readying to Open in the Meatpacking District

Last night, Solange Knowles took the turntables and Perrier-Jou√ęt popped countless bottles for a little shindig in the new Bagatelle space, which is ready to open pretty much any day in the Meatpacking District. Taking over the corner digs that used to house The Collective and One, the new incarnation of the MPD resto will look familiar to fans of the Champagne brunches that put this eatery on the map when it was open down the block (that space currently houses Beaumarchais). The bright room is about twice the size of the original, and it's decorated with a sleek, white palate, with a long marble bar along the back wall of the space and plenty of circular banquettes that will provide perches for larger groups. Splashes of color in the form of artwork liven up the joint, as does the sunlight streaming through the large windows that look out on to the cobblestone streets.

The space wasn't fully up and running for the preview, but based on what we saw the larger haunt will prove very popular with the certain type of bubbly-guzzling patron that made the original such a hit. Plenty of pretty people were in the house with pocket squares and shiny purses - it was like they were visiting a familiar friend who was out of town for a while but never really left. Look for the doors to open sometime next week at One Little W 12.
