First Day of Summer: Sausage, Free Macarons, Rooftop Happy Hour

Yay for the first day of summer! We think the best way to enjoy all the daylight we'll have today is to eat and drink your way through it. Luckily, several restaurants are kicking off the solstice in the most delicious ways.

For something sweet, it also happens to be Macaron Day at Bouchon Bakery in Beverly Hills: For every three cookies you buy, get one free. The special runs until 7 PM (235 N. Canon Dr.).

For something meatier, there are the bbqs at Santa Monica's Locanda del Lago and West Hollywood's Dominick's. And you can get your German sausage and beer fix at Wirtshaus from 5 PM to close. The Mid-City restaurant has drink specials and live traditional German music all night. And there are two new beers on tap - Berliner Weiss, a seasonal sour wheat beer, and Moosbacher Kellerbier (345 N. La Brea Ave.; 323-931-929).

For something boozier, linger over what will be the longest sunset of the year at the happy hour on the London West Hollywood rooftop. Every Wednesday from 6 to 10 PM, find cocktail specials, snacks from the Gordon Ramsay restaurant, and some pretty stunning views. Show up during the first hour (6 to 7 PM), and you'll get complimentary drinks. Should you really feel celebratory, reserve a cabana.
