Eataly Coming to LA, But Where Should It Live?

Where should something this big and fabulous live in LA?

The rumors that Eataly, New York's mega-restaurant-market extravaganza owned by Joe Bastianich and Mario Batali, have been spinning for awhile now, but rumor turned to fact when Bastianich confirmed it to Zagat just last month. After all, with the success of their restaurants with Nancy Silverton here (Pizzeria and Osteria Mozza), it's a natural fit. LA would indeed eat up Eataly.

So rumor has moved from 'if' to 'where', and now Eater conjectures that Eataly will break ground in West Hollywood at San Vicente and Melrose. That seems like a challenging and already congested intersection, but we suppose every location has its pros and cons. We also heard it would open downtown, Santa Monica or (gasp) Orange County. What we know: It will go somewhere, and it needs to be somewhere big.
