Dine Under the Stars on a 'Whim' at Smolak Farms

It's like the "Quickfire" version of a pop-up restaurant. "Whim 2012" is a new dining series at Smolak Farms in North Andover offering a one-of-a-kind meal by a notable Boston chef under the stars (well, they can’t promise the stars, but it’d be nice).

The series happens Wednesday evening starting July 11 and continuing until August 29. The twist: chefs decide on the menu for the three-course dinner on the day of the event. After dinner, guests gather around a bonfire to meet and greet. What’s more, each chef selects a charity to which all proceeds from the dinner, above the operational costs, go toward.

The roster includes Will Gilson, July 11; Andy Husbands (Tremont 647), July 18; and Vittorio Ettore (Bistro 5, A Tavola), July 25. Visit smolakfarms.com for all the dates.

Cambridge School of Culinary Arts students will help the chefs prepare the food for more than 100 guests. Smolak Farms is located at 315 South Bradford Street. Tickets and more details can be found at smolakfarms.com (7:30 PM; $65 per person, wine and drinks are purchased separately).
