  1. Are you serious? Did you actually visit First Printer? Chef Kurt and GM Emily are great - but the new "bar manager" is a joke. He talks while you're trying to eat, he obviously has no experience in the restaurant industry, and he is extremely intrusive. I would recommend not going in unless you know for sure that this unprofessional, rude man is not working on the particular evening that you happen to visit.

    1. Yeah, his name is Gordon. Fat black dude who came up to my table and insulted my choice of vodka and my boyfriend for his cute hair. Never going in there again!!!

    2. your lying I know him and he would never do such a thing. He is also we respected and been in the business over 30 yrs. Using his name and such rude slander shows nothing other than you must have a personal issue with him. Grow up. He has never done anything in all the yrs I have known him but try to educate dinners on new things and vodka is one of them since he worked for a few vodka companies. So stop the BS and write a review that counts about the place he works. Also when was cute ever an insult??

    3. I went to First Printer for lunch a few days ago and found the Bar mgr Gordon to be a delight. He came around to check on my food which my waiter didn't seem to do and I was not happy with my food which he very quickly took care of and sang happy birthday to my friend which was an amazing touch. He didn't have to do that. He was very friendly and had a down home since of charm. It made me return to see his music night this past Saturday night and it was a busy night and the place was alittle loud but the female vocalist was wonderful and a joy to listen to. It was great to be able to go out and see some free live jazz and have a great meal. I was hoping he would sing and do a number cause the waiter that night said he sometimes does a few numbers. I can't wait to attend the New Gospel Brunch he is planning. I would advise people to not use the reviews above they seem to have a personal issue with this man and just plain hateful. Maybe they were shut off from drinking there and now trying to bring down the work he is trying to do there. Keep up the good work Gordon and see you for the Gospel Brunch. Awesome Voice again and thanks for singing to my friend she is still talking about it.

  4. Rosa Mexicano worst restaurant to open in boston this decade! Enjoy $22 guacamole with zero salt and even less acid... Limes anyone? Also olives is about as new as grandpa. Who is dead, and olives will be soon too, dying along with the rest of the english empire.... Se la vie!

  6. Olives, one of the Ten Hot New. I quote from the blurb: "his original space and familiar menu".... Where's the NEW?

And, just glancing at the Rosa Mexicano menu: a fish entre for $28.50. You've got to be kidding.

Take sweet revenge all, most of these places will come and go before you know it. Good riddance to most of them. Sadly, it's why the Boston food scene is only good and will never be great.
Too many new places vie to be the next hot spot with designer lighting and plush banquettes and forget that delivering good/interesting/tasty/unique food is the name of the game.
