Two area restaurants received the People’s Choice nods at the 2012 Lobster Roll Rumble held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City last week. Island Creek Oyster Bar placed nine out of 20 for its lobster roll, while B&G Oysters came in 14 out of 20. The Clam Shack in Maine won the Editor’s Choice; The John Dory Oyster Bar in New York City won the People’s Choice Award. The event was hosted by Tasting Table in New York and took place June 7. Proceeds benefited Share Our Strength.
In other semi-winner circle news, Chuck Draghi of Erbaluce clocked in second on the Food Network’s Sweet Genius’ finale last week. In the first round, the chefs were forced to make a chocolate dessert using hot dog buns. The second was a candy dish using Vegemite and starfruit, and the third was making a cake using violet mint candies. Philesha Howard was the winner. Read our pre-show interview with Draghi.
