Generally we try and stay away from touristy locations in Midtown, but last night a visit to Stage Deli proved that sometimes places are considered timeless classics for a reason. Sure it's expensive considering its straightforward options, but at least for us, the pastrami sandwich can last two meals. Just bread, meat and mustard, the sandwich couldn't be simpler, yet it still manages to be so satisfying. The combination of spiced, smoked and steamed meat with tangy mustard and soft bread kept us eating even after we felt full, proving why it's one of the most popular items on the 75-year-old's menu ($16.95; 212-245-7850).
