5 Father’s Day Options in DC

Father’s Day doesn’t grab the headlines that Mother's Day evokes, but Dad sure does deserve the love.  Here are some possibilities for wining and dining him in case you haven’t made plans.

Carmine’s: Abbondanza takes on new meaning at family celebrations in this mega-Italian in the Penn Quarter where group sized portions mean that guests leave with doggie bags. Reservations are still open for 11:30 AM – 5 PM tables; 202-737-7770.

Green Pig: Take Dad on a road trip of all-American vino (possibilities include Hawaii’s pineapple wine and a Brooklyn bottled Chardonnay) at this up and coming Clarendon New American. 5:30-9 PM; tickets are $26 ($22, advance) for six pours, plus snacks; full menu also available; 703-888-1920.

Hill Country: Stop by this Texas-themed roadhouse in the Penn Quarter for meaty BBQ and homey sides.  Pit smoked hot links with Hill Country kraut will be a special ($19.50/lb.) that can be paired with a flight of seasonal Shiner drafts; 11:30 AM- 10 PM; 202-556-2050.

Kellari: Go for a big fat Greek Father’s Day at this festive bit of Athens in the Golden Triangle, where brunch with live jazz will include unlimited champagne or mimosas ($25.95).
