Johnny’s Half-Shell, the Capitol Hill seafood bistro, will be unhooking its Taqueria National annex next fall to launch it as a stand-alone restaurant in the trendy 14th ST NW corridor. This Mexican take out spot, reached via the restaurant’s courtyard patio, is favored by Hill interns and their high-powered bosses for its cheap South-of-the-Border breakfasts and lunches on-the-run. But it lacks visibility and seating. Its new location in a historic building will help remedy this, featuring attractive tables and chairs, an expanded menu, long hours, Margaritas and bottled beer (1409 T. St. NW).
Co-owners Ann Cashion and John Fulchino also have exciting plans for the annex space once the taqueria moves away. They’ll install a new seafood take-away concept called 'Johnny's Fish Bowl'. Stay tuned.
