May is a good month to become acquainted with or revisit the work of the noted chef and restaurateur Suzanne Goin via two special dinner events at her restaurants A.O.C. and Lucques.

Returning for the second year in response to public demand, Lucques hosts a lamb roast on May 21. The three-course meal features spit-roasted Windrose Farm lamb with rosemary, thyme and salsa verde served with potato, green garlic and fava gratin and runs $75 per person (meal only). Credit card confirmed reservations are required; call 323-655-6277 for more info. The inaugural 2011 dinner was served in honor of the release of Gabrielle Hamilton’s book Blood, Bones & Butter.

Meanwhile, A.O.C. is planning its first paella night on May 24. On offer alongside the main event will be tapas such as fried baby artichokes with fried octopus and honey aioli and roasted apricots with manchego, arugula and Pedro Ximénez (white grapes) as well as a dessert of vanilla flan with Spanish chocolate and almond “besos.” Paella night costs $50 per person (meal only), with a variety of Spanish wines will be on offer for potential pairing; advance reservations aren’t required, but may be procured by calling 323-653-6359.
