Shake Shack Opens in Rittenhouse June 6

Get ready for block-long lines. The first Philadelphia outpost of Danny Meyer’s much-adored Shake Shack has announced its opening date. Starting on Wednesday, June 6, burger-seekers, hot dog fans and lovers of frozen custard can get their fix on the corner of 20th and Sansom from 11 AM-11 PM daily. The concise “roadside” menu includes signature items like the cheese and special-sauce topped Shackburger; an assortment of “flat-top” franks, split and griddled to a crisp; crinkle-cut Yukon fries; and the popular “Pooch-ini” - a custard-dog-biscuit sundae for our furry friends.

On the sweet side, custards come in the form of cups, cones or shakes, plus a selection of special Philly-themed “concretes” - cream blended with mix-ins. The Liberty Shell, for example, combines vanilla custard with the shells of Termini Bros. cannoli, strawberry purée and lemon ricotta. All menu items are served á la carte, and fall between $3-$8.50. There’s also a rotating wine list and beer selections, including two drafts, one of which is the house ShackMeister Ale by Brooklyn Brewery.

With Village Whiskey an arm’s reach across Sansom Street and Capogiro a stone’s throw away across 20th, the intersection is about to become a major sweet spot for summertime grub (215-809-1742).
