Pouring Ribbons Inches Closer, Demi Monde Set To Open
At yesterday's Chef's Night Out, we ran into the folks from Alchemy Consulting, who are thrilled to be nominated for a James Beard Award in the new Outstanding Bar Program category for their swanky den Violet Hour in Chicago (more on that here), gave us an update on their current project - Pouring Ribbons in the East Village. The new cocktail-centric den will be a complete reboot of the second-story space that used to house Uncle Ming's and White Noise (the latter for a hot minute). They are excited to open, but are still going through the rigors of paperwork that goes with any new watering hole. To avoid the speakeasy label (they insist that the bar will not be secret despite it's above-street-level locale) they promise to make the door to the space really stand out. Follow their Twitter feed here for updates.
In other cocktail news, we also heard last night that Demi Monde is set to open as early as next week in the Financial District. This bar is from the team behind Death & Co., which includes recent 30 Under 30 honoree Alex Day. Stalk them on Twitter here.
