Fishtown Food Truck Pop-Up on Friday

Spot Gourmet Burgers
According to the weather gurus, Friday’s going to be a hot one, and we’ve found the perfect (and cheap!) way to while away a summery eve. From 6-11 PM, the newly formed Philly Mobile Food Association has organized a Fishtown food truck pop-up party, where you can sample treats from four of the city’s most interesting wheeled kitchens while drinking brews in an outdoor garden.

Congregating outside the Lutheran Settlement House at the corner of Frankford and Master (just north of Girard) will be Little Baby’s Ice Cream, purveyors of premium cream in flavors like balsamic banana and cardamom caramel; Pitruco Pizza, whose mobile brick oven fires up some of the tastiest Neapolitan pies around; Spot Gourmet Burgers, a new West Philly-centric truck that grinds its own fresh sirloin and will even cook your patty medium-rare; and Zea Mays, where you can taste authentic Native American flavors in dishes made with corn, quinoa, wild rice, bison, beans, squash and berries.

The event is pay as you go (cash is optimal), the beer will be served in the nearby garden (so you aren’t tempted to wander off with your cup), and an RSVP is requested, so the organizers know how much food to bring with. A relaxed evening outdoors on a warm weekend night sounds just right.
