5 Things to Do For Cinco De Mayo in New York

Once you're through with your Derby Day bacchanal, don't you dare put your glass down. This Saturday is also Cinco de Mayo - once the horses have run the course all you need to do is switch from bourbon to tequila. Yeah, that's a lot of celebration in one day, but did you know that Saturday night also will feature a super moon? Freak. Out.

The Cinco De Mayo Blowout: Located in Murray Hill, Mexican restaurant Teqa plans a day long blow out where you can come in at one of three times for two hours of open bar and a fixed price menu of tacos, chips, salsa and plenty of other Mexican goodies. The seatings at 1, 3 and 5 PM will set you back $100 while if you want to stop by at 8 PM tickets are $125 (212-212-3223).

The Cheap Beer Extravaganza: MexiQ in Astoria will celebrate by offering Dos Equis XX at the happy hour price, which is only three smackeroos. There will also be live music through the day to keep you entertained until it's time to roll yourself home from all that cheap brew (718-626-0333).


Mariachi Madness: Dos Caminos plans to bring mariachi bands in to their numerous NYC locations and will have DJs spin later on in the evenings. Expect drink specials for this mini-chain's three-day celebration, which starts tonight.

150 Tequilas and Counting: Check out the new tequila lounge at Richard Sandoval's Mexican eatery Pampano and be sure to hit up the happy hour specials, which include $6 margaritas and $4 beers.
