Tonight: Questlove vs David Chang in Fried Chicken Battle

Last spring, Roots frontman (and ambassador for all things Philly) Questlove, decided to take his love of great eats a step further, and launched ?uest Loves Food with a cook-off at Time Restaurant. Since then, the concept has progressed (though there are still no hard details about the rumored food truck or a permanent location for the venture), and the fried chicken that Quest and his chefs developed has received rave reviews from celebs and foodies alike.

The buzz caught the eye of another celebrity, Momofuku king David Chang, whose fried chicken is so sought-after that you must make an online reservation specifically for the dish days in advance. Chang took to Twitter to call out the drummer and challenge him to a public contest. As The Roots are the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the event quickly found a home, and will be broadcast on tonight’s show.

Plenty of trash talk has ensued in as anticipation builds for the fried chicken battle, and Questlove even had t-shirts made up (which will be for sale) with the term he’s been using to tease Chang via Twitter, “fukumomo.” If the musician wins, he’ll get a full page spread in Lucky Peach (Chang’s new quarterly magazine), but if the New York chef is judged tops, Questlove will have to wear a chicken outfit on national TV. So, are you on #teamquestlove or #teamchang? Whose bird will reign supreme? Tune in tonight to find out.
