Southport & Irving Serves Bistro-style Charm in Lakeview

Putting the neighbor back into neighborhood bar, Southport & Irving opened on Friday with the cozy, family-friendly charm of decades-old establishments. Owners Geri and Tom Foley took a selection of wine from Broadway Cellars and paired them with a menu created by chef de cuisine Frankie Bocardo.

A traditional American menu is infused with international flavors from Geri’s travels around the world as a flight attendant. House specials include duck lasagna, bourbon glazed salmon, veal osso buco and vegetable strudel. Southport & Irving is also open for bunch with offerings such as duck confit hash, pork chop and eggs, and blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup and gelato.

It is all served in a small bistro where exposed brick gives way to wine racks and art hanging on the walls. Tufted leather booths wrap around the walls and a full bar sits adjacent to the kitchen. Peek inside to catch a glimpse of the chefs donned in coats boasting the logos from each Chicago sports team.
