| The new wine bar |
How do you stay fresh after 25 years in business? Well, you can either follow
the advice of these restaurant industry veterans, or you can make like Sambuca Restaurant on the Upper West Side and unveil a new wine bar and selection of small plates. The revamped restaurant is trying to lure in those who might want just a glass of wine and a quick bite or two - there is a selection of reasonably priced wines with a focus on labels from Italy and the US which can be enjoyed with new small plates like garlic shrimp served in a terra cotta pot. Menu classics have also been given a spruce up, with the restaurant's meatballs now available as sliders or in a skillet in addition to served along with spaghetti.
Of course the joint still serves full dinner, which is available seven nights a week in the dining room. Wine bars have proved tremendously popular in this hood (witness
Tangled Vine,
Bin 71) so we wouldn't be surprised to see those new stools filled up in no time (20 West 72nd St.).
