More for Midtown Village: Green Eggs Cafe, Spiga, IndeBlue

More Green Eggs are coming.
In the battle for hottest restaurant 'hood, Midtown Village is running neck-and-neck with East Passyunk Avenue, with several more eateries about to join the 13th Street pack. Green Eggs Cafe is an EPX favorite, and the team behind this bruncherie is planning to open their third location (the second is in NoLibs) at 13th and Locust this coming Monday. Hours (8 AM-4 PM) and menu will be the same as at the original, which means there is now a place to find decadent red-velvet buttermilk pancakes in Center City proper (1301 Locust St.).

Just next door, partners from Rittenhouse’s Le Castagne are making good progress on Spiga, a “casual cousin” to their Italian fine-dining original, according to Philly.com. A wood-burning brick oven that has lain dormant since Girasole moved out of the space nearly a decade ago has been revived, and chef Brian Wilson is looking forward to turning out Neapolitan pizzas as well as grilling whole fish, meats and veggies for the uncomplicated menu. A selection of Italian wines and beers will round out the offerings (1305 Locust St.).

Around the corner, the former nondescript Korean known as Pastoral will be transformed into a new offering from the husband-and-wife team behind Collingswood’s IndeBlue. Former Tiffin chef Rakesh Ramola has found success across the river with his Indian BYO, but has not yet settled on a concept for the new venture (205 S. 13th St.).
