Foragers City Table Now Open Inside Foragers City Grocer

Maybe you're grocery shopping in Chelsea when you realize that you don't want to actually take home food and prepare it. Let's be honest - all that chopping is such a chore. Well, Chelsea establishment Foragers City Grocer has moved beyond the prepared food and items for sale with the opening of their own restaurant, dubbed Foragers City Table. Chef Douglas Monsalud comes to NYC via San Francisco, and he has created an Asian-inspired menu using the mountains of fresh produce available at the grocery store (he also is behind the shop's prepared goods). In addition to the veggies, Monsalud has incorporated the butcher's selection of local meats and some house-made charcuterie into the mix. Look for sharable plates like wok-tossed Berkshire pork short ribs with fresh basil and black pepper (thankfully all the chopping is done for you).

The full-service eatery may be in the middle of a grocery store, but you'll still be able to get your drink on. There is a full bar serving cocktails and a locally sourced selection of beers. Just be careful not to get too tipsy and then decide to go shopping - while much of the fare may be good for you, a drunken shopping spree is never good news for your wallet (300 West 22nd Street).
