The intersection of W. 10th Street and W. 4th Street in the West Village is stacked with restaurants including many from big-name chefs like
Empellon and
Fedora. Almost unnoticeable on the same block is
Cafe Condesa, a charming little sliver of a restaurant serving an eclectic mix of New American, Mexican and International fare at some of the most reasonable prices you'll find in this part of town. One of our favorite dishes there is the pan-roasted salmon with mashed potatoes, asparagus, tomatillo-avocado salsa and pico de gallo. The salmon is buttery and flaky, offset by the sharpness of the pico de gallo and the tomatillo salsa. The pillowy mashed potatoes and crunchy asparagus provide the perfect combo of textures and flavors to tie the dish together. This place is super-tiny so come early to snag a seat.
Cafe Condesa is located at 183 W. 10th Street; 212-352-0050.
