The Best Thing We Ate Last Night in Chicago: Wagyu Beef and Kimchi Dumplings at Roka Akor

There were cheerleaders and seven-ft.-tall basketball players, and at one point Benny the Bull hopped behind the bar to serve drinks, but the most memorable part of last night's Hoops for Hunger event at Roka Akor was the wagyu beef and kimchi dumplings.

Although the quality of the meat really shown when it served in a filet with chili ginger sauce, the savory beef filing combined with the bitter taste of kimchi created one satisfying dumpling. The simple hot starter complemented the lighter sushi offerings and also warmed up our taste buds for the pork belly and steak skewers that followed.

They proved once again the best gifts come in small packages. Please excuse us while we pop half a dozen in our mouths.
