7 Spots to Get Your Hot Dog Fix in the Boston Area

The "Poor Man's Surf & Turf" at Legal Harborside
There’s a synergy going on right now: baseball season and hot dogs. Only it’s not clear which came first. We’ve seen a handful of restos flaunting their dogs long before the first crack of the bat, so we’re thinking it’s some lowbrow culinary trend that’s here to stay - for now. And the beauty of it all: most of these pups come cheap ($3.95 on up).

Ashmont Grill: Feeling the urge in Dorchester? Head to this neighborhood American hang for a simple Pearl hot dog on a grilled bun (617-825-4300).

Legal Harborside: Leave it to Legal Sea Foods’ Seaport locale to pull together the "Poor Man’s Surf & Turf" - a grilled dog and a stuffed quahog (617-477-2900).

Max and Dylan’s: Ok, we're bending the rules a little for this Charlestown American, where the  Pearl hot dogs come sliced up in mac 'n' cheese. Our inner child approves (617-242-7400).

Met Bar & Grill: Looking for a foot-long Kobe? You'll find it at this swanky American with locations in Dedham and Natick. Snuggled in a grilled brioche bun, it's covered in cheddar cheese, red onion, tomato relish, pickles, peppers and more.

McGreevy’s 3rd Base Saloon: Get down and dirty in the Back Bay with this classic pair of chili dogs topped with diced onions and yellow mustard (617-262-0911).

Trina’s Starlight Lounge: Let your hankering lead you to Somerville for griddled dogs, corn dogs and, for one lucky customer (the "dog of the day"), a special pup wrapped in bacon (617-576-0006).

Wahlburgers: Besides all the burgers, this joint in Hingham also serves a “dirty water style” all-beef pup with toppings of your choice as well as a Stray Dog topped with brown mustard, sriracha sauce and housemade smoked tomato salsa (781-749-2110).

  1. You missed The Lower Depths - around the corner from Fenway, wonderful hot dogs starting at $1 with great Beer selection. Naomi, suggest that you should do research - find lesser places - and not just list already well known restaurants which happen to sell hot dogs.
