New York Dining Deals and Events March 19-25

Chelsea’s Co. hosts its first ever wine dinner tonight at 7 PM, with the vino provided by California’s Donkey & Goat winery. The $100 tab includes four-courses with pairings, with combos like veal meatballs with homemade sauce, parmesan and basil served alongside a 2010 “Five Thirteen” red wine blend. See the entire menu and purchase tickets here.

In conjunction with its Wellness Week event, Spafinder has teamed up with NYC restaurants like Bouley, Fishtail, and David Burke Kitchen to offer healthy, three-course menus through March 25 (a $25 lunch of organic salad, fish bouillabaisse, and fruit salad at The Tea Set, for example). See the entire list of participating restaurants and their special menus here.

Greet the Vernal Equinox with a seasonal menu at Matt Piacentini’s East Village eatery Beagle, where $105 buys you three-courses—like smoked mussels with pork mayo, bitters vinaigrette and herbs—with four paired cocktails. Chef Garrett Eagleton and manager Dan Greenbaum will also be on hand to explain each combo and teach guests how to pair meals with spirits. Here's the info.

It’s World Water Week, and thousands of restaurants across the country have once again teamed up with UNICEF on their annual Tap Project fundraiser. The concept is simple: find a participating NYC restaurant here and, when you dine, donate $1 for your tap water. Proceeds will go to help the organization provide clean drinking water to children across the globe.

Celebrate the warmer weather at The Beard House tonight, with a “Garden State Spring” dinner starring seasonal ingredients prepared by Chef Ken Trickilo of the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City. The evening begins with hors d’oeuvres like steak tartare tacos and cornmeal-crusted Quilcene Bay oysters, and continues with dinner and wine pairings, featuring dishes like roasted Colorado lamb loin with wild mushroom-pignoli stuffing. See the entire menu here - tickets are $170 general admission/$130 for JBF members.

Make your Saturday all about sake at NYC Wine Company, which is hosting a tasting tonight from 5-7 PM. At least eight varieties will be sipped while Monica Samuels, a sake ambassador for Southern Wine & Spirits, leads guests through the history and production of the beverage. The two-hour class costs $75, and includes gratis charcuterie, olives, and cheese for nibbling.

Celebrate the return of AMC’s Mad Men at the Roosevelt Hotel’s Madison Club Lounge, where Don Draper has drank many a Canadian Club. The evening includes a happy hour with vintage cocktails, a three-course dinner menu, and, of course, a screening of the season premiere at 10 PM. 1960s attire is encouraged, and there’s even a prize for the best dressed. RSVP by calling 212-885-6007.
