This is wonderfully helpful for my coming trip to New York. I've been looking to plan meals around some of the sites and activities and now have much of the work done for me!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see something similar for other citis too. Maybe it would influence where I vacation.
Thanks Zagat!
Having lived in New York, and then moved away five years ago, I often find myself wondering where to eat when visiting on business. All to often I've found that the restaurant I used to love is either no longer so hot, or worse completely gone. This will be very helpful in upcoming trips!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I completely agree with Blue Fin and Murray's Cheese - awesome!
I concur with the previous comment; more cities, with similar information would be excellent!
You're missing two of my favorite pizza places in Manhattan: Lombardi's and Otto!
ReplyDeleteI usually avoid the Times Square area, but I may have to check out some of your suggestions on my next trip.
But how, Miss Bloomberg, do you get tickets to Book of Mormon.
ReplyDeleteFrom Chicago and making a trip to New York in two weeks, will definitely hit up some of these places.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
There's some good advice here. I think the Grand Central food court has a pretty good selection and is not limited to the slices and beers you get at Penn. Oh, and the shake shack downtown doesn't usually have too long a wait, just watch out if you're there when the bankers come out for lunch. They frighten me.
ReplyDeleteDon Antonio by Starita looks amazing! I need to go there next time I'm in the area
ReplyDeleteGreat comprehensive suggestions for my next trip to New York! How about Miami?
ReplyDeleteI want Rubirosa to make my heart pump pizza sauce! Obsessed. Thanks for the tips, Zagat!
ReplyDeleteA meal at the Oyster Bar will set you back a few clams...how punny.
ReplyDeleteHere's a favorite of mine. Have an exquisite Jean-George brunch in the lobby level restaurant at The Mark on 77th & Madison before whiling away an afternoon at the Metropolitan Museum, just two blocks away.
ReplyDeleteOooh! Good one!
DeleteReading this article made me hungry for Manhattan. Looking forward to trying some of these culinary delights.
ReplyDeleteHow could you possibly use this photo? Absurd.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the commentator above. Fucking ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteHate to bring this up -- but, the WTC towers? Really, Zagat? Journalism 101. Check the stock photo before you use it. Clearly an illustration of how accurate and timely your content is.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ideas. Looking forward to trying them out.
ReplyDeleteAs for the pic that's the northernmost tower of the WFC not WTC. Who are you nubes? Clearly an illustration of speaking before thinking or having any journalist research skills yourself.
which buildings in the photo do you think are the WTC towers?
ReplyDeleteone more food tour - Scott's Pizza Tours is great!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a tourist, but appreciate the tips on where to go when I'm far downtown. Haven't been to Delmonico's in ages and need to check out Wall and Water. Also, anyone have opinions on North End Grill?
ReplyDeleteAgree with the Rubirosa Vodka Pizza-one of the best slices I've ever had!
ReplyDeleteRubirosa and BonChon, two personal favorites of mine!
ReplyDeleteFor those confused or wondering, the Twin Towers photo was there earlier...it was changes as soon as people started to point out the faux pas.
ReplyDeleteNo faux fas displaying an icon. Journalism 501, you should credit corrections. You are anonymos which makes it tough to know who said what when and what your angle is. Quit hatin'. This is Zagat with a wonderful compass to navigate the many options in Times Square. Your comment about the journalism class level of the autor struck me as being snobish. Therefore, I e-slap you. "Slap, Slap" (with white glove). Tomorrow you and I on Architectural Digest noon.
ReplyDeleteDo I have to go to look at the art or can I just go to the museum restaurants?
ReplyDeleteI'd look at the art that interests you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. This post is very helpful.

If you like REAL PIZZA and are willing to endure the atmosphere (none) you really need to try WALDYS on 6th Avenue (around 28 St)
ReplyDeleteWe NEVER miss a Waldys pizza when we go to NYC
The Grand Central Oyster Bar is lovely to be in and have a glass of wine and some oysters, but the rest of the food there is horrible and expensive to boot. I suggest going for the vibe and bivalves then leaving for a better dinner.
ReplyDeleteWe were now in the bosom of the Highlands, with full leisure to contemplate the appearance and properties of mountainous regions, such as have been, in many countries, the last shelters of national distress, and are everywhere the scenes of adventures, stratagems, surprises and escapes.
