First Look: Casa Enrique, A Mexican Haunt in Long Island City
Casa Enrique opens. The joint is from the owners of Bar Henry in the West Village, and the offerings here are certainly a departure from that vino-soaked den. Here the fare will be influenced by the San Luis Potosi region of Chiapas, Mexico. Expect grub like chille relleno, which is stuffed with cheese, poblano and tomato sauce. Sources tell us that the joint will open with beverage offerings like Mexican sodas and agua frescas but those looking for a sip of something stronger shouldn't worry too much - beer and wine are on the way. Diners will be able to enjoy the moderately priced dishes in a simple, white dining room that features a few flourishes of Mexican art. It's a bit of a hike but we think some cocktails at Dutch Kills sounds like they'd hit the spot after a visit to this joint (5-48 49th Ave.).
