Da Burger Boss Truck is not PC - not even close. It's decorated with graphics of what looks like members of the casts of The Godfather, Sopranos and Goodfellas. It's got slogans: "A burger you can't refuse"..."Keep your friends close, but your burgers closer"...and the not ready for primetime, "You buy a burger or we breaka ya leg."
Now, what the connection between gangsters and burgers is, is a bit hard to parse. I don't remember the goombahs eating burgers in The Godfather, Sopranos and Goodfellas. Al Pacino didn't eat them in Scarface, either. But you know - we've always liked the mythology of bad guys running wild. And having a gangster theme does make for some colorful names for the burgers and the toppings.
The Mexican Mafia Burger, for instance, comes topped with "pistol whipped guacamole." The burger with bleu cheese and caramelized balsamic onions is The Strong Arm. The Patrolman burger is served on a grilled donut. The Copper is made with slow-roasted BBQ pork - described as a P.I.G. sandwich - an acronym for "Pride, Integrity, Guts." And natch, the burger made with chicken tenders is...The Coward. Sadly lacking is any reference to local bad boy Bugsy Siegel. The man created Las Vegas and was gunned down in Hollywood. The least he deserves is a burger of his own.
