Here's a new opening very fitting to
Mexican Food Week -
Brad McDonald, who helms
Colonie in Brooklyn Heights (and who has worked at
Noma and
Per Se), and chef
Sam Richman (
Fat Duck,
Jean Georges) will open
Gran Electrica on Monday in DUMBO, a new regional Mexican eatery in the old
Five Front space. The market-driven menu will attempt to showcase a variety of different regional specialties including takes on street food items. Hand-pressed tortillas will hold a variety of savory tacos and you can also expect dishes like Cocteles and Mole Verde Oaxaqueno. The cocktail program will be directed by
Sophie Taverner and will include a list of speciality margaritas and artisanal small-batch mezcals.
