While dining at Meatpacking hot spot Catch the other night, we couldn't help but marvel at a clever little device planted on each of the tables: built-in plate stands. Why don't more restaurant use these? It creates a lot of extra space on the table, (not to mention more elbow room) and saves the servers/runners from snatching away half-eaten dishes to make room for the new ones. Plus, having raised plates makes sharing a lot easier when you're dining with a group. Let's face it, this is a trend that every restaurant needs to adopt.
