$94,000 Whiskey Sale Signals End of Recession, Sobriety

If you thought spending $60,000 on champagne was excessive, how about spending $94,000 on a bottle of single scotch malt whiskey?

Last night at Glenfiddich's 125th birthday gala on Liberty Island, whisky collector Mahesh Patel broke the world auction record for a bottle of Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve (one of 11 available), with the proceeds benefitting Adrien Grenier's charity, SHFT Initiatives. As seen above, the former Entourage star was on hand to host the evening, and for those interested in finding out where he eats (given that our NYC Restaurants survey is going on, we had to ask), the answer is Fat Radish for its "sustainable practices."

...But to properly celebrate, think a trip to Norma's for a zillion dollar lobster frittata might be in order, right?

  1. That certainly is another world record worth keeping at least for the next few years until the multi-millionaires are ready to break that again. But then again, I hope that doesn't go into a DUI case that will be feasted on by criminal defense lawyer los angeles.
