The Too Hot Tamales' City Restaurant Returns for One Night Only

The Too Hot Tamales
Long before there were Too Hot Tamales, there were Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, and an iconic multiethnic (Thailand, India, Italy, France, America and beyond) destination called City Restaurant - where the menu was unlike anything anyone had ever seen before. It closed two decades ago. But those who ate there have never forgotten the sheer sense of discovery. And on Wednesday, February 29, Mary Sue and Susan are bringing it back, from 5-10 PM, at Border Grill, with a four-courser that includes options like Chinese sausage salad, rigatoni stuffed with chicken fennel mousse, Portuguese mussel and cockle stew, sautéed halibut cheeks with tomato and Pernod, and braised duck with red curry ($75 per person; 213-486-5171)
