For our final Super Bowl-themed regional food smackdown this week, we're comparing New England's beloved whoopie pies with NYC's iconic cheesecake. Which region has the better dessert? Shout out your thoughts on each in the comments.

In this corner: The whoopie pie

Why it's the best: Whoopie pies are basically like a cake sandwich - two round flat pieces of cake with frosting in the middle, almost like a an Oreo (but better). While it's the official state treat of Maine, whoopie pies have picking up popularity all over the country. Fans will tell you that the combo of creamy frosting between two pieces of cake is what makes the treat superior to a piece of NY cheesecake - plus, bonus: it's portable!

 vs.

In the other corner: NY-style Cheesecake

Why it's the best: This classic treat churned out en masse by NY staples like Junior's is beloved for its ultra-creamy texture - which comes from the use of heavy cream as a key ingredient. New Yorkers think it's the best because it's the perfect combo of richness and tang, and hey, is there anything better than cheesecake? Fuhgettaboutit.

Which one do you think is best? Vote now in the comments!
