Serafina Heads to Upper West Side, Blue Bottle Starts to Brew in Chelsea

Blue Bottle Coffee Beans
There's a few expansions of familiar brands going on around town. Serafina, which already has a number of outposts throughout the Big Apple, will open its newest venture on the Upper West Side on February 22. The team behind the restaurant is actually opening two eateries in the neighborhood - both of which will be located in the On the Ave. Hotel at 2178 Broadway. One is dubbed Serafina UWS and will feature a menu of Northern Italian specialties and thin-crust pizzas, the other is a Japanese concept known as Geisha Table (a spinoff of Geisha on the UES), which will have a separate entrance and feature only 23 seats. This small eatery is being sold as a "casual and hip" Japanese izakaya, and will feature a menu of sushi, sashimi and tempura served alongside a large list of sake. Both eateries will be open daily, and Geisha starting with dinner service only.

Down in Chelsea, java junkies will have the chance to get a fix of fancy coffee as Blue Bottle opens their first outpost in Manhattan (this will be the San Francisco-based company's seventh location nationally). The company will take over the ground floor of the Milk Studios space, as per Diner's Journal. They will bring all their mad-scientist looking gadgets with them, all in the search for the perfect cup 'o joe. The shop is scheduled to open on Saturday (450 W. 15th St.).
