Fujimar, the high-glam, redo of Lima's second floor slated to open Downtown on Valentine's Day, will offer small dishes - think sushi and ceviche - with Asian-Latin twists. Chef Raynold Mendizabal says that fish will be shipped from Hawaiian Pacific waters the same day he’s inspected it via videophone. Even better, you'll be able to get your fin-fare fix until 1 AM (2 AM on Friday and Saturday - is late-night sushi a trend?).
The ultramod surroundings include a sushi bar and two loungey dining areas, one with red plush banquettes and chandeliers, the other white-leather lined. Color-changing pillars and monitors showing the chefs at work will add visual excitement. There are also three bars, which will be pouring requisite fancy cocktails and terroir-driven wines. Lima Lounge, with its own bar menu, will continue to happen in the basement and street-level space (401 K St. NW; 202-789-2800).
