Ditmas Park wine bar The Castello Plan kicks off their “8 Tastings on 8 Wednesdays at 8 PM” wine and beer festival. Tonight focuses on naturally fermented wine, with future themes including Italian vino, Belgian craft beer, and burgundy (see the complete list here).

Thursday


Just in time for the Oscars, Movie Menus author Francine Segan leads a talk titled “Food in Film” tonight from 7-8:30 PM at 92Y. Guests will watch epicurean-movie moments from Chocolat, Ratatouille, Big Night and more while tasting the foods they see on screen. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased here.

Ward off cold and flu season for free at Juice Generation’s new Third Avenue outlet, which will celebrate their opening with complimentary Cold Warrior mixes all day.

Get Real NY presents “Aporkalypse Now” at 404 Space. Ten chefs including Antonio Mora (Prime Meats), Matthew Hyman (Alewife Queens), and Gabe Thompson (L’Artusi) will each prepare pork-centric dishes to pair with over 50 craft brews and local wine available for tasting. Tickets for the day start at $60 and can be purchased here.

Brooklyn’s Red Star hosts the annual “Best Wings in Brooklyn” competition today. Doors open to the public at 2 PM—there’s no cover and, best of all, the wings are FREE!

Watch the Academy Awards at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Winery, offering specialty cocktails like “The Marilyn” and other chow inspired by this year’s nominees, alongside their full winter food and drink menu. Admission is free at the party runs from 7-11:30 PM.
