DC's 5 Best Japanese Restaurants: Go Vote for Your Favorites!

Makoto
With sushi getting hot (er, cool) on the late-night dining scene, it’s time to check out the wider Japanese restaurant world. There’ve been exciting new entries since our last DC Restaurants survey. Kushi, the sizzling izakaya (charcoal grill), sushi, sake and shochu trend spot in Mount Vernon, serves its authentic specialties in über-stylish lofty surroundings. Meanwhile, in an offbeat Wheaton storefront, Ren’s Ramen’s rich noodle soups lure devotees who couldn’t care less about the lack of decor.

Speaking of good deals, serious Japanese food entered the fast-casual realm when Kaz Okochi (Kaz’s Sushi Bistro) opened his high-tech OhFish in the Golden Triangle (there's one in the Foggy Bottom Whole Foods too). Finally, food lovers eagerly anticipating Daikaya, a ramen noodle shop and izakaya combo from the Sushiko talents, whose Chinatown opening has been delayed, are heartened to hear that plans are going forward for a late spring/early summer ETA.

To give you some survey inspiration, click through the slideshow to read reviews and ratings of the current top five for Japanese restaurants. Don't see your favorite? Remember - your input determines the list, so go vote!
