Pizzeria Mozza knocked us off our New York groove so much that we considered moving out here, if only because the produce really is that much better.
This casual pizzeria has a whopper of a food score for a reason (28 to be precise). All of the ingredients are super fresh, the pies are crispy and loaded with delicious toppings and the wine selection is pretty killer. Though the pizzas get most of the attention, the dish that wowed us the most was a simple crostada. The toasted bread is drizzled with balsamic and olive oil and topped with some onions and a succulent dollop of cheese, but the real kicker is that gigantic, leafy Swiss chard sitting atop the dish. The whole thing is impossible to eat by hand, so cut it up and listen as the leaves whisper to you: "You know you want to move to California."
