We were saddened to learn that Alphabet City mainstay
Back Forty lost its chef,
Shanna Pacifico. Word was that she recently had her last day in the kitchen of
Peter Hoffman's casual eatery, and a replacement has not been named (what will happen to the burgers?!). Well, it turns out that Pacifico's departure is actually good news, as she is staying in Hoffman's family - according to the restaurateur, "Shanna is always with me." Hoffman has been busy readying the reboot of the SoHo space that used to house Savoy, and Pacifico has moved over to that eatery to helm the kitchen. This all make sense since when
Hoffman closed Savoy, he promised that the reboot would be a more casual venue in the vein of Forty.
We actually walked by the new eatery the other day and a peek inside shows that it is coming along nicely. No word yet on an official opening date, but sources are saying that it should be sometime next month.
