Quote of the Day: Florida Bill Targets Junk Food

"If we're going to be cutting services across the board, then people can live without potato chips, without store-bought cookies, without their sodas."

-Florida Senator Rhonda Storms quoted in the LA Times about her views on a proposed bill that will ban the use of food stamps to purchase junk food. [LAT]

  1. those chips look awesome. you should do a "where to buy gourmet chips" in NYC.

  2. This seems like a tricky one. Doesn't help the issue that all of the processed crap is the cheapest and most readily available at every grocery store.

  3. Wait a second, I thought republicans were the ones opposed to more government intervention? How does that fit with dictating how people spend their food stamps? BAD. IDEA.
