Marc Forgione Wins New York's Pig-Tastic Cochon 555

Last night was a big one for Iron Chef Marc Forgione - not only did he take the coveted trophy in the annual heritage pig cook-off, Cochon 555, his beloved NY Giants won a perch in the Super Bowl (the chef was sporting a Big Blue T-shirt rather than his normal chef whites). To take the title, Forgione had to beat four other chefs who were each tasked with using an entire heritage pig to cook up five dishes for the hungry audience. While Damon Wise (Monkey Bar) and Bobby Hellen (The Cannibal) wowed with some bites (we're still drooling over Wise's pork tacos), Forgione's table was clearly the most popular, he was out of food within an hour of the event beginning. Also in the house were Ralf Kuettel (Trestle on Tenth) and Shaunna Sargent (Betto) who all put up a valiant fight (just like the '49ers) with blood sausage, pork-spiked chocolate and more than a little head cheese. All of the dishes paired well with the potent mason jar Manhattans that were flowing freely from the back bar.

Forgione will now head to Aspen to compete with chefs from around the country that win their regional competitions. If you didn't get a chance to gorge at NYC's Cochon, check out the swiney slide show above. Caution: creepy pig head inside!
