Capital Grille Latest Restaurant To Be Sued Over Wage Dispute

Suing restaurant owners for wage violations is something of a trend these days, and the latest restaurant owners to face the judge will be The Darden Group, owners of the Capital Grille eateries in New York, Washington DC and Chicago. The class-action suit alleges both wage violations and racial discrimination - the allegation is that the back of the house positions go to minority employees while the more lucrative front of the house positions are awarded to white workers. The suit also claims that workers were not paid for overtime and were forced to share their tips with employees who weren't supposed to be included in the tip pool - which are the standard allegations for a lawsuit like this. We'll stay tuned on developments, and see if Capital Grille has a response to the allegations.

  1. It's the most common lawsuit even in other industries. There needs to be more regulation on the wage issue.
